Maya Cuisine is the type of restaurant that you want to keep returning too. The employees are so kind and welcoming- they made you feel right at home. Everyone who works there is helpful and willing to explain the menu and their ingredients. Not sure of what meat to get? They offer free samples. This is one of our staple Mexican restaurants in Minneapolis. We go here often for lunch or for their Sunday morning brunch buffet extravaganza. Prices are affordable, portions are generous, the staff is friendly and parking isn’t a problem!
I ordered the Mexican Platter, which is your choice of 3 tacos/tamales with rice and beans. Their rice alone is fantastic, which is hard to find at most Mexican restaurants. I got the pork with green sauce tamale (made fresh daily), spicy chicken taco and chorizo and potato taco.
The tamale was moist, flavorful and full of pork.
David got a platter of 1/2 lengua and 1/2 pulled pork which came with 5 tortillas and rice and beans. He loved the lengua and both of us could barely finish our meals.
One of the best parts of Maya has to be their salsa bar. They’ve got a variety of salsas along with radishes, pickled jalapenos and limes. On top of it all, the restaurant is very well-maintained and clean. David said the restroom was one of the cleanest bathrooms he’s been into! You’ve got to come into Maya and try it!
