After Thrillist came out with this article, David and I had to try Malabari. Malabar is located on the southwestern coast of India. This restaurant has Indian and Thai influences and offers sandwiches, curries and other entrees. Although they don’t have a bar, we called ahead and brought our own wine in. The space is cozy, and parties over 6 might not be able to sit together.
Above is the side of white rice and thoran (seasonal mixed vegetables) that comes with the entrees.
Njandu Curry (softshell crabs in spicy sauce, crabs marinated and cooked with a blend of dry roasted and ground coconut- coriander paste, $12.99) with the chappathi that comes with entrees.
Meen Curry (Kingfish simmered in a thick and creamy tomato and onion sauce with exotic malabari spices and kokam, $11.50) with the mashed and spiced yucca that comes with it. Warning: this dish is extremely spicy! The server warned us about the spice level, but it is truly spicy so be careful.
